Three Decades at the Intersection of Depth and Experiential Healing
Guy Sapirstein, PhD is a licensed clinical psychologist with nearly three decades of experience at the intersection of depth psychology, affect theory, trauma, and experiential healing. After earning his doctorate from the University of Connecticut in 1995, he entered private practice in 1996, building a foundation in the scientific and clinical dimensions of change.
His landmark meta-analysis with Irving Kirsch on antidepressant placebo effects, published by the APA, generated significant scientific discussion regarding the primary drivers of psychological transformation. Furthering his contributions to clinical research, he co-authored a widely cited hypnosis and CBT meta-analysis in the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, which was recognized with the prestigious Roy M. Dorcus Award.
Deeply rooted in trauma treatment, Dr. Sapirstein previously supervised clinicians at The Trauma Center in Brookline, MA. His work has since expanded to include the pioneering field of psychedelic preparation and integration. This expertise culminated in the development of his original clinical framework: Dynamic Developmental Integration (DDI).
DDI integrates regulatory, relational, structural, and existential dimensions of experience — offering both depth of understanding and precision of clinical direction. By addressing what creates durable change versus what only creates the appearance of it, his practice provides a pathway for individuals and couples to move beyond insight into the lived experience of being and relating differently.
